Lungs Be Great Tea
This tea blend is for those who are experiencing stress in the lungs either from from air pollution, smoke, or physical stress (work, lack of movement, viruses). This tea is sure to help clear out all the gunk and get your lungs functioning as they should!
Ingredients: Mullein, Elecampane, Yarrow, Licorice root, Burdock root, Turmeric, and black peppercorns
Herbal Benefit Breakdown:
Mullein: One of the most beloved respiratory herbs in folk medicine, mullein acts as a natural expectorant — loosening and clearing mucus from the lungs and airways so the body can breathe easier. It also soothes inflammation along the bronchial passages, making it especially helpful for those dealing with congestion from smoke or environmental irritants.
Elecampane: One of my personal favorites! This deeply warming and stimulating herb is a powerhouse for the lungs, particularly when there's stubborn, excess mucus (phlegm-y girls, this one's for you 🙋🏽♀️). Elecampane has antimicrobial properties that help fight respiratory infections while supporting the body in expelling what doesn't belong there.
Yarrow: This herb is a classic go-to for fevers, colds, and upper respiratory issues. It helps open the pores, promotes healthy circulation, and assists the body in moving stagnant energy and fluids out — supporting the lungs' natural ability to clear and heal.
Licorice root: A deeply soothing and anti-inflammatory herb, licorice root helps calm irritated airways and supports the respiratory tract as a whole. Its demulcent properties protect and soften inflamed tissue, making it a wonderful companion herb for the rest of this blend.
Burdock root: This powerhouse detoxifier works from the inside out — supporting the lymphatic system and liver in filtering out toxins that can otherwise burden the lungs. When the body's drainage pathways are clear, the lungs get the relief they need to do their job.
Turmeric: This seasoning contains powerful medicinal properties including a high antioxidant count, protection against respiratory inflammation, and antibacterial support. It works in this blend to reduce the internal inflammation that can tighten the chest and restrict healthy lung function.
Black peppercorn: Contains piperine, which not only helps reduce inflammation on its own, but critically enhances the absorption of curcumin — the key active component in turmeric that isn't easily absorbed by the body on its own. These two are better together!
Directions: Add one tea bag to hot water/tea pot. Cover and let steep for up to 20 min.
